A to Z: Neural Link

Called begins with Clementine Jones' neural link disconnecting after a day of service as a Processor. She describes long fingers of tungsten that connect into a port surgically installed in place of one of her vertebrae.

A connection port with long, pointy connection points that would connect to an implanted port in someone's neck.

She describes being pounced on by the Academy medical staff, later learning they target the ones who look like they'd run. Years later, her port itches when she thinks about it.

In the world of the Conglomerate, internal computing was developed to allow a direct link between brain capactiy and computing power. This allows Processors to connect to the Hive and ordinary citizens to transform into Guardians. While not essential for service, most higher-paying positions rely on internal computing and an embedded neural link.
